I Feel Your Pain

This is precisely why I went 5 days without updating: I could hardly see my computer monitor through the pollen-induced haze coating my eyes. So, after recalling last year’s misery which kept me all but locked up in the house throughout summer, I decided to beg my doctor for an allergy prescription.

One would think that would make me all better, right? One would (again) be wrong.

See, I would have to actually leave the house to get to the pharmacy, and I just haven’t been able to psych myself up for the 20 minutes of nearly non-stop sneezing that entails. I finally broke down today and begged the doctor to call in my prescription to a pharmacy that delivers.

I’m such a wimp.

UPDATE: I’m sure Professor Joyner would be the first to agree.

Ugh! I feel your pain, too. My allergies have been horrible this year, though they started back in January when cedar/juniper season hit. The neighborhood is *filled* with Juniper trees. My husband and I had sinus pain for about 3 months straight!

I can’t even take my favorite allergy medicine, because I’m pregnant. I prefer Zyrtec. It’s magic. But it’s class C. So instead I’m on Claritin which works half as well for me and also tends to give me nightmares. But after having fluid stuck in my head for 2 months, and having pounding sinus headaches in the back of my head and feeling like my eyes were going to pop out of my skull, I gave up. Finally, a combination of sudafed, claritin, tylenol, mucinex (which I had serious trouble not just throwing up due to morning sickness) and 3-4 steamy showers a DAY, my head drained. It tasted disgusting. Ugh.

Thank god though. They were about to have to get an ENT to “drain my head” which is some sort of outpatient surgical-sort of procedure, apparently, which is not exactly my idea of a great thing to do while pregnant!

Stupid allergies. I swear, the neighborhood I live in much have been landscaped by an allergist looking for more patients. When I open the windows, all I can smell is stinky jasmine.

Sorry. Didn’t mean to add to the rant. I think I just needed to let that out….

Geesh. After I commented on this, I ended up taking a nap for 2 hours because I felt so horrible.
