Bee Movie: B Stands For Boring

The Big-Eyed Boy and I needed to clear out of the house for a few hours today, so despite my earlier outrage about Jerry Seinfeld’s duplicity, we went to see Bee Movie after enjoying a nice lunch at the playground.

There’s something oddly disconcerting about being the only two people in a massive movie theater, which I guess shouldn’t have come as a surprise considering it was 12 o’clock on a weekday. Even more awkward: my son fell asleep mid-way through the flick, and I began snoozing, too, not long after.

Honestly, I don’t know if our siestas meant that the movie was that boring, the chairs were that comfortable, or our lunch was that heavy. Maybe it was a combination of the three. Either way, I wish I’d saved the $13 admission price (and the $14 spent on popcorn and pop) and simply stayed home.

Perhaps before heading out to the movie I should’ve checked out the nutcracker Kim found. At least the giggling would’ve kept me awake!

It’s hard to imagine a president with Stainless Steel Thighs! – Although maybe that’s why Bill strayed…

No doubt. He’d probably been wondering for years where his nuts went.

I seldom see movies. I did take my ex-step-daughter to see “Master and Commander,” which needed about a half-hour of editing. I went to see “Shakespeare in Love,” chiefly because the screenplay was by Tom Stoppard; it is lonely when one is the sole customer. My boredom threshold was reached before sleep, so I walked out after about 20 minutes.

Generally speaking, I only take in a movie after a very positive review from the WSJ; and there are few very positive reviews.

I did take my (now) ex-wife to see “Broadway Danny Rose” which I liked and she didn’t, and she had dragged me to many lousy movies by the same director (whose name I thankfully forget.)

WG: too funny!

Otto: I rarely see movies for grownups, but my son absolutely loves going to the movies so I’ve seen just about every kid flick that’s come out in the past 4 years (except for the few, like Flushed Away, that I was able to coax VH into seeing with the Big-Eyed Boy so I didn’t have to).
