Giving Free Fact-Checking For The Times?

Can you imagine not merely linking, but pinging a NY Times article with TrackBack and having the ping appear on the paper’s site? What about having a NY Times employee – or, more likely, a squad of them – checking each TrackBack to discover whether a blogger did some fact-checking that may contribute to revisions of the Times’ article? Glenn can.

Sure, but Glenn can you imagine how many bloggers would link and ping a NY Times article – even without contributing factual information – just to see their blog listed under the article’s TrackBack posts? Hell, that list would be 10 pages long for even the merest of stories.
