It seems that all of the cool kids are coming up with their own gimmicks these days. Kevin has the Bonfire of the Vanities. Kelley has the Cul-de-sac. John Hawkins has his surveys. Dean Esmay picked up on the hot-button issue of the man/woman thing. Meryl scored a few links by blogging back. John Cole is handing out Blogger Awards (but no cash prizes), and Lair is interviewing folks. And on it goes.
I’m jealous.
Plus, I have nothing original that I feel like writing about.
So, thanks to Adam – who plundered my archives and snagged that limited edition mp3 of yours truly singing a reworked version of a Janis Joplin tune – I have a gimmick, too.
Adam and I are jointly hosting a Blog Song contest. Adam has the first entry with his ditty “Feel Like Makin’ Rugs,” although he wussed out and didn’t sing along for your punishment amusement. Still, it’s a damn fine tune and it has me looking at my area rugs in a whole new light.
Are you game? Take a song, give it your best work up, and tell us about it.
Oh, yeah – and we may get around to coming up with a prize, even. But you damn well better sing if you want one of those!
