Like Your Blog, Like You?
Jonathan has a new spin on the “archetypes” I wrote about in Blogging Thoughts and Philosophies. It’s always interesting to see other people interpreting and expanding on one’s words in new and unexpected ways. This one takes the blogger categories of “love linker,” intrabloggers, extra-bloggers and isobloggers and applies them to off-blog personality types. Very interesting analysis. But I wonder to what extent this is a chicken-and-egg situation?
And that, of course, makes me wonder about something less popular to discuss: if it’s true, as Jonathan seems to imply, that personality types drive the blogging style then perhaps a decision to de-link a blogger really is a statement on their likeability after all. For instance, the parasitic personality traits that Jonathan has equated with “love linkers” are, for the most part, annoying and distasteful to all. Does that mean, then, that the bloggers who adopt this mentality are likely to be similarly annoying and distasteful?
Hmm… I sense a heated discussion coming up.
UPDATE: Ian chimes in (May 11 entry) with another purpose of blogging: the distribution of knowledge via links. A new twist on extra-linking thinkers, perhaps?
