Shut Up And Drive
I hate phones. I hate talking on phones. I hate people who enjoy talking on phones. I hate people who enjoy talking on phones so much that they feel compelled to do it even while driving.
Before you delude yourself into thinking that it’s safe to be the object of my hatred – or that it’s safe to talk on the phone while driving if you use a “hands free” device – think again:
The National Road Administration (SNRA) tested 48 people in driving simulators, dividing them into two groups — one with and the other without hands-free mobile phone devices.
The drivers in both groups received about 10 phone calls each during 1.5 hours of simulated driving in different conditions. The test revealed almost no difference in reaction time between the two groups.
Solution? Pull your head out of your ass and put your hands on the wheel. A car is for driving. A phone is for beating the snot out of people who think it’s safe to do more than just drive while they’re behind the wheel.
