The Rumors Of My Demise Were Greatly Exaggerated
Well, as has become fairly typical in my venomous household, the fantabulous celebration of VH’s birthday last week quickly went downhill as we both woke up in the middle of the night with raging food poisoning. No fun, that, when both parents are sick while a very active, very Christmas-happy little boy is perfectly fine and dandy. VH and I wound up taking turns moaning on the sofa with a bucket near to hand, while the other lay in bed doing much the same thing. By Friday morning we were both much, much better.
That’s when a neighbor called to deliver the bad news that he’d found Winston’s body on a nearby road where he’d apparently lain for a couple of days after being struck by a car. I’ve spent the weekend trying to recover my holiday spirit while mourning my cat.
Fortunately, I see the Envenomed have kept you entertained, including our latest addition to the Viper’s Nest: De Doc.
I hope your weekend has been much, much better than mine.
Sending lots of sympathy your way.
Thank you, Rose.

I know this is going to sound strange, but I feel a bit better now that I know. Before, I’d wake up at the slightest noise at night, hoping it was Winston coming through the door. When it got very cold the other evening, I worried about how he’d stay warm. And I’d kept his food bowl out, his water fresh, and his toys ready to be played with… just in case he decided to saunter through the catflap.
Now I know that won’t be happening, and I know it’s time to grieve and move on. I don’t do hope very well, but I do know how to grieve.
I am so sorry about Winston.
So sorry about Winston.
Glad you are able to know the facts.
I’m so sorry about Winston.
And then topping it off with food poisoning… yikes! Hope you’re feeling better quickly from the poison yucks.
Sorry to hear about Winston.
Hope you’re feeling better.
I’m so sad to hear about Winston’s death. I was hoping he’d turn up again.
