After nearly two solid weeks of it, I’m a bit sick of the year-end retrospectives, aren’t you? This time of year, it seems like every news channel feels the need to dig through the archives to cover — yet again — the stories they over-covered in the past 12 months. As if we didn’t hear them the first time. As if we don’t remember. As if we aren’t already sick of hearing about Scott Peterson’s perfidy, Martha Stewart’s martyrdom and Janet Jackson’s ::cough:: wardrobe malfunction.
Sometimes I wonder if it’s the media themselves that weren’t paying attention to their own coverage.
On the other hand, every so often there’s a great retrospective. Something that collects things we did, indeed, hear but have forgotten amid all of the Peterson/Stewart/boobage barrage. Something like the 40 Most Obnoxious Quotes of 2004, courtesy of John Hawkins at Right Wing News.

C’mon Kate, you know that the retrospective is simply an excuse for producers to head of for their holiday vacations on Dec 20. That’s why the biggest story of 2004 wasn’t mentioned in any of them.
That being said, there is one that I check out every year:
