I prefer Laurel K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series more though. I just started reading the Stephenie Meyers series that starts with Twilight. It's definitely different! The few remaining copies of her first novel are going for silly prices on Ebay.. I definately reccomend 'When Demons Walk' and 'Steal the Dragon' for Fantasy readers (note probably not for kids) If you like her work check out Patrica Briggs(Moon called, Blood bound, Iron Kissed) Is very like the Gentry novels and VERY well written.
