Rosie O’Donnell is leaving the View, allegedly over a failure to reach an agreement on her salary. Like anyone believes her “resignation” has nothing to do with her bizarre rantings of late.
No, it has nothing to do with her belief that U.S. government actually blew up the World Trade Center. Or when she grabbed her crotch and said “Eat me!” to Donald Trump at an event honoring New York’s most accomplished women. (Where, incidentally, she took aim at Rupert Murdoch, too.)
Look, all I can say is that it’s about time. I am wholly sick of the hypocrisy that allows the entertainment industry to feign outrage over foul, insulting comments from people like Rosie, then keep them on the air because it helps ratings. This business of making business by pissing people off has always been morally bankrupt.
It’s time we stop equating offensiveness with entertainment. It’s time we stop giving boorish, vulgar celebrities attention — much less a television show! — in the hope their antics will so outrage people that they actually tune in.

“failure to reach an agreement on her salary”
Read: They don’t want to give her any anymore.

I hope her career (finally) goes the route of Roseanne Barr.
Oh, and Mad I think you should change give to take.

You know, it’s just so sad when they go off their meds. Maybe everyone should send her a copy of “Catcher in the Rye.”

I have been practising what you preached for about 10 years now. The surest way to kill the “ofensive entertainer” is to not contribute to their ratings. the second is to boycot the sponsors.
