It Happens In Threes
They say that “celebrity” deaths come in threes. In two weeks we lost three notable men in three very separate walks of life:
R.I.P Peter Boyle – Holy crap, but you gave us some good laughs.
Fare thee well, James Brown – and thanks for all the groove.
At Ease, President Ford – and hail to the accidental chief.
Film/TV, music and politics… I guess that means bloggers were spared. Still, it’s an odd feeling to learn of the deaths of people who were notable in one’s childhood. It’s as if their passing speaks of the years that have passed unnoticed in our own lives. And, perhaps, a passing of a torch as well.
Of the three, I liked Peter Boyle the best. I’ll never forget him as the Frankenstein Monster in Young Frankenstein.
And of course, all the other roles he played.
Poor President Ford – do you remember how SNL’s Chevy Chase made such fun of him? Gosh, I’m showing my age, I’m afraid!
Oh no. Peter Boyle too?
gah. That’s sad. Ford? Well, he was 93 and never made much of an impact on me. James? Yeah. He’s been ancient for 30 years.
But Peter Boyle?
That’s just sad
I voted for Jerry Ford in ‘76. Funny how all the problems we are facing in the Mideast today got their start with that grinning idiot Carter.
Meh….the problems were always there, Carter just has a talent for backing the wrong guy and/or making the wrong call.
