Dutch Oven Recipe: Chicken and Dumplings
Chicken and Dumplings
Serves 6
Ingredients
- 1 lb. chicken breasts cut into cubes*
- 1 can corn, drained
- 2 stalks celery, sliced
- 1 small onion, chopped
- Pkg. refrigerated biscuits (I used Grand’s
- 8 oz. egg noodles
- 2 cubes chicken boullion
- Water
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- Spray interior of Dutch Oven thoroughly with Pam and heat slowly over fire.
- When pot is heated, brown chicken.
- Add veggies and boullion.
- Cover contents with 2-3 inches of water. Cover. Place on coals and bring to boil.
- While boiling, add noodles, salt and pepper. Stir. Cover and cook 8-10 minutes.
- Add more water as needed to make mixture soupy. Return to boil.
- While boiling, drop biscuits on top of mixture. Cover.
- Place 6 coals on top of the lid and cook 20 minutes.
*I’ve made this with ground turkey and chunks of smoked ham steak, too, and it’s fantastic!
