August 30: VK Is Speechless.

Sydney, Australia:

A fundamentalist church pastor had sex with two of his teenage daughters to educate them on how to be good wives, a South Australian court has heard.

The 54-year-old man, who cannot be named, was today sentenced in the SA District Court to eight and a half years jail after pleading guilty to seven counts each of incest and unlawful sexual intercourse.

The court heard that the man had sex with his daughters for nearly a decade from 1991 when they were aged 13 and 15 at the family property.

The sex took place at various locations including in a shearer’s shed, a paddock, on the back of a ute and, on one occasion, at the girls’ grandparents house.

The man told the court the sex was not about fulfilling his desires but about teaching his daughters how to behave for their husbands when they eventually married, as dictated in scripture.

I’m actually speechless here. Crap like this is exactly why I have never believed in the Bible. I don’t want to start a religious debate here, but honestly, I do not believe that the Bible says “have sex with your daughters to prepare them for their husbands”.

The Bible doesn’t say that, Elizabeth. So… the Bible didn’t make him do it. His perverted pedophilia made him do it.

There’s some pretty wacky stuff in The Bible, but I don’t seem to recall the “boink thy daughters” commandment. Maybe that was on the tablet that Moses dropped (the one that had commandments 11-15 on them (please tell me that’s not too obscure?))

Er…I hope you meant “Fucking small proportion of the male population who are sick”? By the way, does it say where the mother was during all of this? It does say the “bitch” is supportive of him. “Fucking pathetic women”.

Beyond belief on every level. I’m angry for his daughters, I’m angry for his congregation, I’m angry AT his wife and I’m angry that the neighbor’s pit bulls haven’t found him and put an end to his miserable life.

I’m also angry that his corruption will turn people away from Christianity. Just what bible is he using?

Whiel everyone assumes Christianity due to “church pastor” It doesn’t specify a religion but does say fundamentalist. Wonder if it was a pastor or an iman in reality.

Perception is reality here. Because we all assume “pastor” means Christian (and I do think they would have said “iman” if it was one — or they possibly wouldn’t have said anything at all because it might offend and all that PC stuff), I’m afraid Christianity takes the hit.

Yet it is so far from Christianity…. I’m mad all over again.

The reference to “scripture” is another reason for the assumption.

That said, as many of you have pointed out, there’s nothing in the Bible about violating one’s daughters. As such, I think we can all agree that regardless of whatever the “pastor” claimed he was NOT practicing Christianity.

There’s also not a whole lot in there about subjecting dark skinned people to slavery, blowing up abortion clinics or killing thousands (conservatively) in the Crusades but it was used to justify those things.

There is, however, discussion of puinishing people who touch menstrating women, rules for women and men’s hair length and instructions that women are to be silent partners in their marriage.

What this man did was sick and he should be castrated and allowed to bleed to death. But, his use of the Bible to justify atrocities isn’t unique. Additionally, to some Christians, ignoring other parts of the Bible is just as bad as inventing entirely new sections to justify your actions…

Not only does the Bible not encourage fathers to molest their daughters, it speaks specifically against incest of all sorts. This man claims his perverted interpretation to justify his sick actions.

True. As that famous West Wing speech by “President Bartlett” goes:

I wanted to ask you a couple of questions while I have you here. I’m interested in selling my youngest daughter into slavery as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. She’s a Georgetown sophomore, speaks fluent Italian, always cleared the table when it was her turn. What would a good price for her be? While thinking about that, can I ask another? My Chief of Staff Leo McGarry insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly says he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself or is it okay to call the police? Here’s one that’s really important because we’ve got a lot of sports fans in this town: touching the skin of a dead pig makes one unclean. Leviticus 11:7. If they promise to wear gloves, can the Washington Redskins still play football? Can Notre Dame? Can West Point? Does the whole town really have to be together to stone my brother John for planting different crops side by side? Can I burn my mother in a small family gathering for wearing garments made from two different threads? Think about those questions, would you? One last thing: while you may be mistaking this for your monthly meeting of the Ignorant Tight-Ass Club, in this building, when the President stands, nobody sits.

Damn, I love that one.

1) Some wackjob using the Bible to justify something doesn’t mean his “something” can defensibly be found or interpreted in the Bible.

2) If Christians lived by the Old Testament, which is where all those rules being discussed now come from, they wouldn’t be Christians, but Jews circa … B.C. I think it’s pretty clear that not even modern Jews live by most of those rules any more.

To lattegirl: I meant to put smilies in my original comment. Now that I read it again, it sounds harsh. My apologies. :)

Myself, I know of no non-pagan religions that have these sorts of beliefs. In fact, no pagan ones come to mind either.

Still, 8 1/2 years in jail for almost a decade of dual incest? Wow, what a bargain.

I just hope the area he is housed in has a lot of similar minded individuals that will show HIM how to be a good “wife”.
