Yep, I believe the copyright (or is it trademark?) issue is their primary concern. It’s something Google has been cautioning against for a couple of years now.

The problem is that they could lose their copyright on their brand. Sort of like Kleenex already has.

(I used to be a tech writer — legal would kill us if we slipped up an let a product name become a verb! Or a noun, for that matter…)
