Stop! Go! Pay!
Ever felt like a yellow light at an intersection was unnaturally short? You may be right.
A man in Bethesda recently discovered that the county had set one yellow light to less than 3 seconds while surrounding lights lasted for 4. The result? That one light netted the county $1 million in fines over the course of 14 months. After CBS covered the story, the county set all of its yellow lights on the stretch of road to the same 3.5 second length. Of course, they money generated from fines is not being returned.
