Blogrolling, Survivor Style

I’m terribly overdue for a blogroll pruning session. There are quite a few blogs on my current “List of Prey” for reasons I can no longer remember, and no doubt many excellent new (or resurrected) blogs that I haven’t yet linked. Unfortunately, I don’t forsee having the time or energy to prune my list for a while – or to deal with the inevitable pissy emails when I de-link someone.

So, I’ve decided to do something I’ll probably regret. (Imagine that.) I’m going to let you create a new blogroll for me — “Survivor Style” – and the final list will be featured in its entirety on the right-hand side of my page.

Ready to play? Here’s how:

1. To “vote” blogs on or off my blogroll, leave a comment on this entry and type the URL – without HTML formatting – in the comment body.

2. Be sure to indicate if you’re voting the blog “on” or “off”!

3. You are limited to three (3) votes per comment.

4. I will delete votes to sites that I find wholly repugnant. (No, that does not disqualify blogs written by Democrats.)

5. I’ll be incorporating your votes with my private Top 10 of blogs that I’ll never de-link.

6. The “Survivors” will consist of 100 recommended links, including my Top 10.

7. The voting deadline is Friday, October 22 at 6 p.m. (Eastern) or the instant this experiment slows my page-loading times, whichever comes first. After that, the comments on this entry will be closed and will no longer be viewable.

8. Comment spamming is in effect, so your submission may require moderator approval before it is shown.

How much more Venomous can blogrolling get?

UPDATE: The deadline has passed, so I’m closing comments. Look for the new, full List of Prey to be posted over the weekend!

  1. I can’t bring myself to vote against your blogroll so all of my votes are for adding to your blogroll.

1.) I vote for me at http://www.randythomas.info because I like your blog.

2.) I vote for Vodkapundit because he rocks http://www.vodkapundit.com

    AND finally

3.) I vote for “Writing to Understand.” at http://kristamerius.blogs.com/writing/ because she is very smart and one of my daily reads.

I wish I could vote for more. *You* will never leave my blogroll.

  2. - I vote me on because you were the first big blogger to link me and answer an email from me: http://homepage.mac.com/sbooneaz/iblog/

    - I vote on Vodkapundit because he is a fun read: http://vodkapundit.com/

    - I vote on Backcountry Conservative for his news coverage: http://www.jquinton.com/

  3. http://www.swankyconservative.com

Voting “on” for the Swanky Conservative. I’d hate to not be on your blogroll.

    http://www.captainsquartersblog.com/mt/
Voting “on” for this one, too.

  4. 1) I’ve been on. I’ve been off. I prefer “on”. Besides, EV is the place to be. I say http://wichidude.typepad.com should stay.

    2) I vote for The Monkey Cage to be added. This blog uses some warped and interesting humor to keep you thinking and to lighten up the day. http://monkeycage.blogspot.com

    3) Lastly, Lawren keeps his finger on the pulse of the world. http://lawrenkmills.mu.nu

  5. I definitely vote for me, though my blog will continue to suck until I get employed (hopefully this Friday, cross fingers and toes please): http://snoozebuttondreams.com

I vote for me again twice! Haa!!

    Just kidding.

Vote number two goes to Flibbertigibbet at http://flibbertigibbet.mu.nu because he’s alternately funny and poignant and he spent way too much time as your favorite stalker to lose all that headway due to a name change.

Thirdly I vote for Corporate Mommy at http://corporatemommy.mu.nu/. Elizabeth is one hell of an excellent writer on just about any subject she takes a keyboard to.

  6. I’m with Wichi Dude – I’ve been of and I’ve been on. I prefer on. :)

I vote you please put me back on the List O’ Prey:

    http://www.margilowry.com

There ain’t no way in hay-ell I’m telling you who should go. You have impeccable taste.

  7. Typo correction: Off, even. Shee.

  8. first of all… …or to deal with the inevitable pissy emails when I de-link someone.

seriously? people really e-mail you when they get delinked? that’s hilarious. the blogosphere is so petty.

now onto my list: (this is going to be hard b/c your blogroll has apparently disappeared?)
    –I’ll vote for myself (http://heterophobic.org/journal/), just b/c I’m a shallow bitch and I can.
–I’ll vote to keep or put in The Queen of All Evil (http://www.qoae.net/) b/c she always makes me laugh.
–and I’ll vote for Dog Snot Diaries (http://www.dogsnot.net/mt/) either being added or kept b/c even though Geoff and Gordon can be complete jackasses sometimes, their approach to dealing with trolls gives me endless entertainment.

  9. I suppose I could have made those into links. not only am I shallow, I’m lazy too.

  10. I know it’s rude to overload you with munu blogs and even ruder to nominate myself, but what the hell, nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that: http://simonworld.mu.nu

It’s a good job you called this Survivor Blogrolling; it’s the only reality TV show I can half-stand. If it was Outback Jack Blogrolling, well, I’d be demanding to get off the island!

  11. I vote for LeeAnn at the Cheese Stands ALone:
    http://themonkeyboylovescheese.mu.nu/ Because LeeAnn is funny.
I will also shamelessly vote for me – because I’m a big fan of your blog and because sometimes mine is worth reading.
    http://www.thedonovan.com/beth
And I vote for Mind Of Mog (http://mindofmog.net/) because I like cats.

  12. I’m going to take a different tact. I’m not nominating myself. There are three that HAVE to be on there (well, IMHO)

    Sgt. Hook That’s just obvious
    Vodkapundit
    Smart and yummy

Bad Example Funny, great writing, and the perfect compliment for your site.

    Damn, only 3!!!!

  13. thepureinvestor.blogspot.com because “I have a plan. And Cheney’s daughter is gay.”

  14. Well let’s see I guess I’ll say

Tammi the Road Warrior http://roadwarriorsurvival.com/ (cause she didn’t vote for herself!)

    Blackfive http://www.blackfive.net/

And last of all FrankJ http://www.imao.us/

    I’d say me – but that would be 4 – so I’m done. :-)

  15. Let’s here it for those of us in the primordial ooze known as Blogspot:

Me (Gamer): gametheworld.blogspot.com and thank you for being my first ever link.

    Jinnderella: hotneedleofinquiry.blogspot.com

    Sean D.: docinthebox.blogspot.com

  16. Take 2 on getting it right:

    Jinnderella: hot_needle_of_inquiry.blogspot.com

  17. Never read your site. Thought I would visit to see if reading your site and voting to clear your blogroll would be worthwhile. It’s not.

    regards

  18. Reality blogrolling?. Definitely include Joe Towler (whoever the hell he is). Definitely vote off the Llamas! If we get everyone to delink them, they’ll soon be a Puling Protozoa again! THEY CAN BE STOPPED!

    And ME, duh

  19. No deletes, just adds.

    http://www.captainsquartersblog.com/mt/

    http://www.qando.net/Default.aspx?tabid=38

Since you’ll consider new blogs, I’ll vote for mine.
    http://secureliberty.org/

After all, we lawyers no longer in private practice need to stick together right?

  20. This is going to be hard!! Only three votes??
Okay, my suggested, requested, begged for additions would be:

First, of course, I MUST vote for myself
    http://meanderings.typepad.com/

Second I would have to say Rob’s the man
    http://www.gutrumbles.com/

Thirdly (is that a word? oh god this is so hard!)I’d say Kim at
    http://www.velociworld.com/

  21. My name is Yma. I am a princess of the Xtabay. In my country, the llama, while stupid, is a divine animal. Please do not link anyone taking our most holy ruminant’s name in vain, especially those 2 idiots Robert & Steve.

May the great Vicuna rain golden showers of blessings on you.

  22. Well, Kate, I considered asking you to blogroll me but then reconsidered. That inspired the post that’s in my trackback above. Here’s the tail end (which includes the blogs I want to suggest that you blogroll):

Kate of Electric Venom is refurbishing her blogroll in a typically Kate-ish fashion. She’s asking her readers to vote blogs on or off the island. I originally considered suggesting that Kate consider blogrolling The Glittering Eye. But on reflection I decided that, although I’d love any additional traffic, that might not be a service to Kate’s readers. I have, shall we say, a distinctly different style than Kate’s.

So I’m suggesting three blogs that I like and read and that might appeal to Kate’s clientele: Mind of Mog, The Key Monk, and Go Fug Yourself.

I especially want to recommend Go Fug Yourself. I think your readers would love it. To me it’s the funniest, sexiest, cattiest site in the blogosphere (present company excepted, of course).

  23. A vote to consider my site which I don’t think you’ll find repugnant but may not know about as its only 4 months old: rant street! rant.st
    cheers

  24. ugh. I don’t like go fug yourself – sorry, David!

  25. I have to give propers to:
http://tequilamockingbird.blogspot.com – a wonderful writer who always seems to make me laugh.
http://www.geminigirl.net – Like Sex in the City, but much classier.
jttp://jl.mu.nu – Who knew she was a democrat?
    …and humbly, myself http://www.ronkainen.org

  26. I’ll vote for my own blog: http://nakedvillainy.com.

I’ll also vote for the Llamabutchers at http://llamabutchers.mu.nu

And plug the Tall Dog at: http://www.gutgrumbles.com

  27. I vote for me of course – does wonders for my blogshares value!

  28. Yippers for our friends LDH at Impenetrable Prose and the Maximum Leader at Naked Villainy, both of whom we vote for (along with for our woolly selves).

Big Llama hugs and kisses to ya, Yma!

  29. Hmmm…

For me: I vote “on” for

    http://www.vodkapundit.com
    http://www.margilowry.com
    http://www.velociworld.com

    …because modesty forbids I nominate myself…

    ;-)

  30. Well, everyone else is doing it…I vote for me, me, me: Alarmingnews.com

  31. Oh and one of the few remotely interesting liberal sites: Clarified.
