Tuning Out The TV Tonight

Tonight’s the night when Barack Obama’s 30-minute commercial will air on CBS, NBC, Fox, Univision, BET, MSNBC and TV One. That’s right: all your channels will belong to him except for the Disney Channel, much to the relief of Obama’s kid who also doesn’t want to be forced to watch him.

Personally, I think his strategy is going to backfire. People are sick of this election, but they’re also sick of not being able to afford to go out to the movies or for dinner as entertainment. I have to wonder how many people, stuck at home, are going to resent Obama’s choice to preempt their chance to relax. Talk about being out of touch with the average working person….

Unbelievable. And who paid for all this? We don’t know because they credit-card-identification feature on their web site is disabled.

Thanks for the laugh about his own kids watching the Disney channel. Fortunately, I’ve got a few good books and Obama isn’t in any of them.

If he wins, I’m turning off the TV for the next four years.

He’s also not on ABC, at least according to my TV listings. Pushing Daisies is on. There is a rumor that show might get canceled. This could be just what ABC needs. People looking for something else to watch have no where else to turn!

I’ve been meaning to watch Pushing Daisies but never can remember when it’s on. Was wondering how I’d fill that half hour tonight. Now I know. And who knows, maybe I’ll have a new favorite program!

You will. It’s an hour. It’s such a great show. I love it and it’s on my TiVo season passes.

Jim Dale (of Harry Potter narration) narrates. The premise is way out there, characters are much, much bigger than life, with silly names, and the colors are storybook.

Anna Friel, Lee Pace, Chi McBride, Kristin Chenoweth, Ellen Greene and Swoozie Kurtz.

As ABC is owned by Disney, it kind of makes sense it didn’t air.

What struck me as odd about his whole “infomerical” was how lacking in substance it all was. They showed people who were struggling (out-of-work or can’t-afford-health-care, that kind) but not once did he actually state how HE would fix that. Or even if he could.

Typical left-wing bullshit.

Like I said, I didn’t see it, but I’ve heard that he outdid Sally Struthers on the sappy pathos.

I wasn’t planning on turning on the tv until after 8:37pm which is when the current baseball game will be starting up.

Damn he lucked out. They are starting in the 6th inning or is it 7th inning. *sigh* With no extra innings it will only take about 2 hours to finish off.

If this had been a regular World Series game he’d be delaying the end of it until nearly 2 in the morning on the east coast because he HAD to buy air time and move the start of the game back… what an idiot.

Am I the only one who finds it ironic as hell that Barack Obama is already screwing with America’s Game?

No you aren’t the only one – he seems to need to stick himself into everything and be noticed.

I did manage to miss his entire commercial. (the local restaurant bar we went to was playing the basketball game – I loved it and I’m not a huge fan of pro basketball – LOL) We got home at 8:34 and therefore never saw one minute of Barry’s extravagance. ;-)

I agree with Charity, I’ll be watching Pushing Daisies tonight. Which is what I usually watch on Wednesdays anyway (yes, I have no life, at least until the weekend).

I’ll be watching “Pushing Daisies” which I do every Wednesday. I’m REALLY hoping that “PD” will have big ratings tonight compared to the norm – it’s a great show that needs to stick around.

No Obamathon for me. I’ll be socializing with the neighbors. Enjoying an adult beverage (Laphroaig) and a fine cigar (Dominican, I believe). I’d like to say that I’ll be ahppy when it’s over, but I think that is gonna be at least another 4ish years.

I’ll be doing one of three things, none of which involve watching The One.

1) I’ll be moving crap. This is the most likely, as we’re in mid-move, and I have until Friday morning to get the veritable ton o junk moved from old home to new. It sucks.

2) I’ll be playing my MMORPG online and trying not to think about all the stuff I need to do. This is highly unlikely.

3) I’ll be playing on the Wii with my kids. This is somewhat likely, as Little Red and I had a ferocious boxing match via Wii last night, and she wants a rematch. Thing#2 wants a rematch on the bowling game we played (I have no idea why, as she destroyed me….sheesh), and Thing#1 wants a rematch in tennis…in which she also totally destroyed me.

And my TiVo wins again.

I watch no television I do not want to, including commercials and the great Obamamessiah.

I suppose, if nothing else, he is certainly doing more than his fair share in revitalizing the American economy, what with all of the money he is wasting on advertisements… and yet he still cannot pull a decisive lead out of the hat.

Funny, that.

Thank goodness for TiVo! Plus I planned on putting the 5-year-old in the bath at exactly 8:00 PM; no need to have the the TV on! I’m sick of his 30 second spots, much less 30 minutes of his horsesh*t!
