The Vodka Trials: Fris
It’s been a while (12 days) since I last tried out a new vodka to replace my beloved but boycotted Gray Goose in my Venomous martinis, much less since I tried out a new martini recipe.
Well, today I am fixing both things. The vodka du jour (oops, there went my French again) is Fris, a six-time distilled grain-based liquid flowing from Denmark which set the Venomous budget back enough to require the assistance of a stiff drink to recover from shock.
Just as the requirements for the Venomous Vodka involve a perfect balance of smoothness and stiffness, the Venomous Martini recipe must perform a delicate balancing act between my high-maintenance personality and Hubby’s inability to follow directions. In other words, the recipe must be short, not overly garnished, and easily remembered when drunk.
So today’s martini recipe comes from the book Shaken Not Stirred: A Celebration of the Martini, kindly given to me by Rob.
Spider Bite
•2 oz. vodka;
•1/2 oz. Malibu rum;
•1/2 oz. Triple Sec;
•2 drops Angostura bitters;
•Lime twist.
Mix liquors and let stand on ice for 2 minutes. Strain into chilled glass. Wipe rim of glass with lime twist and drop into glass. Drink. Make more.
Expect the reviews of both tomorrow whenever I sober up.
