It sounds awful to me, too, but apparently it’s rather popular. God bless your barmaid — assuming the olives are fresh, that is. There’s nothing worse than a handful of rancid olives in a martini.

My Lord, I never knew some people mixed vodka and gin in a martini, it boggles my mind! Strictly vodka here, and none of that flavoured stuff for me, either, thankyouverymuch. (I do, however, request a half-dozen olives, and since the barmaid knows me, she now obliges without me even having to ask.
