Tippling Tuesday: Infused Vodka
It’s once again time to celebrate this most under-appreciated day of the week by raising our glasses repeatedly and hoping the week’s over by the time we sober up.
I’ve yet to acquire the courage to try a bacon-flavored vodka so I figured I’d do something a bit more tame using cherries, a bottle of Stoli and a recipe for infused vodka.
Good stuff, that.
The Cherry Martini
1 oz cherry vodka
1 oz DeKuyper Cheri-Beri Pucker schnapps
1 splash 7-up or Sprite
1. Pour ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously.
2. Strain into a chilled martini glass.
3. Garnish with a marischino cherry.
4. Repeat as necessary.
So, what are you drinking tonight?

You realize that you’re gonna ignite the whole Martini vs. not a Martini thing again, right?

Yeah, I know. It’s not a Martini, it’s a cocktail in a martini glass.
I like to think of those as training bras for future alcoholics.
/me is nursing a bottle of pink chalky stuff today
Spike it with some rum, MWF.

I have a beautiful bottle of 2005 Vouvray Sec (Domaine de la Rouletiere) to be followed by Mission Hill Riesling Icewine (nonvintage, I believe). All sweet whites tonight.
I’m so boring. All I ever drink is wine and scotch. Oh, and bourbon.
RE: martini vs not-martini
You’d probably be amazed at what my contemporaries think is a martini. When I explain that a martini has nothing sweet in it, they become very offended and insist they “just had a great apple martini the other day.”
At which point I usually introduce them to a real one. Most don’t survive the experience.
I need new friends.
“Most don’t survive the experience.”
I have a habit of doing that to my friends, too. Which might be why I have so few of them.
Wimps.
Just two more days…

You poor thing!
I’ll be drinking Rittenhouse rye. But as for the martini question, that was settled 60 years ago: “There is a point at which the marriage of gin and vermouth is consummated… It varies a little with the constituents, but for a gin of 94.4 proof and a harmonious vermouth it may be generalized at about 3.7 to one. And that is not only the proper proportion but the critical one; if you use less gin it is a marriage in name only and the name is not martini. You get a drinkable and even pleasurable result, but not art’s sunburst of imagined delight becoming real.”
Everything else pales in comparison. But the cherry cocktail above does sound delicious.
Cheers!
Gin? Blech. Drink too much of it once and you’ll never touch the stuff again.
Or, at least, that’s what happened to me. 19 years later and I *still* turn green when I smell the stuff.
Bacon and vodka just doesnt sound good,if you ever try it please let us know how it taste, maybe a lot of drinks ahead of time will help lol
Bacon? Good. Vodka? Good. Together… I’m not so sure, either.
I tagged you, if you don’t mind, I’d love it if you would participate. Thanks.

I hate memes. For you, I might make an exception but, in general, I hate memes.
Hey! That must have been some martini! Here it is Thursday and you’re still drinking.
What I figure happened is that you actually tried the bacon-flavored martini and are now in the hospital. Food shouldn’t be blue and drinks shouldn’t taste like bacon.

Oh, I’m sober. I’m even watching what’s going on around EV, too. I just haven’t found anything worth ranting about this morning… well, nothing that won’t implicate me in future criminal activity, that is.

Oh, gawd. Cherry-infused vodka? A VERY SPECIAL popsicle, huh? YUM! This almost makes me wanna start drinking again.
But the bacon vodka? Makes me rethink it. I can’t imagine how awful - a bacon and egg “martini” doesn’t hold any favor with me - in fact, it reminds me why I quit drinking in the first place - the retching. Hah!
