My Dad had a very similar injury, herniated disk with a pinched nerve. His neurologist suggested that he tough it out and extended his pain medication prescription. Two months later, he is completely back to normal. According to his doctor, the latest research suggests that back injuries will many times heal themselves better than surgery.
