I am beginning to believe that, no matter where we live, I am destined to reside next to obnoxious people who live life so loudly… particularly in the wee hours of the night. This time it’s once again my bleach-blond neighbor who’s on my nerves, she who blares white girl hip-hop through the open windows of her SUV each and every morning at 7:15 a.m. I’d hoped that with summer vacation, perhaps she’d sleep later or, at a minimum, that I would no longer have to listen to her hollering at her children each morning to “Hurry up and get in the damn car!”

No such luck.

Now, of course, the weather is warmer and so she and her very loud family all spend much more time outside. Her children emerge from their home at 8:30 on Saturday mornings to run through their yard (which, unfortunately, does not have a fence to keep them out of mine). After an hour or so, she hollers for them to shut up and come inside.

On weekend evenings, she and her very loud husband go outside to sit drinking until the wee hours of the night. The only thing louder than her cackling laugh is the sound of the empty beer bottles hitting all of the other empty beer bottles in the trash can.

Is it any wonder, then, that I’ve started daydreaming (between yawns) about things like, say, thermal imaging equipment and night-vision rifle scopes?

Thirteen months and counting. That’s how long their house has been on the market. That, my friends, is a long time for me to be hoping they’ll hurry up and move before I have to go Rambo on them!
