At one point this summer the Big-Eyed Boy came up to me and announced, “I’m always going to go to school at home with you. I like it.” Heartwarming, eh?
Nevermind that the next words out of his mouth pledged he’d live here, at home, forever and ever and ever, even when he was as old as Daddy.
I considered it a sign that I’m doing something right with homeschooling.

We’ll talk again when he’s 21 and you’re going to bed and he’s going OUT!

I distinctly remember as a young child having a complete meltdown at the thought of ever having to move away from home.
…Oddly enough, many years later after my first year of college didn’t go so well, I remember having a complete meltdown at the thought I’d have to go back & not live on my own.

Ah, that makes me feel better. It balanced out the complete meltdown I had when he said he’d live here forever & ever…
…and the one I had tonight when I couldn’t fine the remote control.

I think it’s great you can have this time with the boy. I decided to try home-schooling, but my kids were already in junior high and absolutely hated it. It would have been great if we’d started it from the beginning, as they learned more at home than they did at school.
