Remember the uproar of a month or so ago about the XCP digital rights management (DRM) crap that Sony bundled in on some of its CDs, the crap that kept legitimate users from making backup copies and then trashed their computers when uninstalled?
Turns out, it didn’t provide Sony with any meaningful protection. In fact, according to one analyst firm, the only thing needed to disable it — or any other DRM technology — is a piece of tape.
