Another Day, Another Lie
I have to hand it to John Kerry – he’s certainly put in a lot of work to show American voters that he’s a mover-and-shaker on the global political scene, a respected world leader.
Too bad it’s all lies.
First, John Kerry claimed that world leaders support his candidacy over that of President Bush. Unfortunately, a double blind super-secret arrangement prevented Mr. Kerry from identifying the leaders by name.
The reality? An our Allies have publicly proclaimed their support for President Bush: Japan’s Prime Minister, Australia’s Prime Minister, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Italy’s Prime Minister.
Next, John Kerry repeatedly claimed to have met with the full U.N. Security Council prior to the war.
KERRY: I will explain. Let me explain to you very specifically. Thanks to some friends in New York, I was invited to come up and meet with the Security Council in the week prior to the vote, and I wanted to do that, because I valued my vote. And I wanted to know what the real readiness and willingness of our partners was to take this seriously. So I sat with the French and British, Germans, with the entire Security Council, and we spent a couple of hours talking about what they saw as the path to a united front in order to be able to deal with Saddam Hussein.
“This president hasn’t listened,” Mr. Kerry said. “I went to meet with the members of the Security Council in the week before we voted. I went to New York. I talked to all of them, to find out how serious they were about really holding Saddam Hussein accountable.”
The reality? Security Council members from France, Singapore and Cameroon acknowledge having met with Kerry. Members from Mexico, Bulgaria, Columbia and a fourth nation – which requests anonymity – say Kerry never approached them.
I don’t know what to find more galling: the hypocrisy behind the Kerry’s attacks on the President’s integrity, or the implicit insult to American voters from a candidate who believes that none of us would uncover his deception?
