Michael Steele’s Well-Earned Standing O

by Venomous Kate

Michael Steele, who’d once planned an “off the hook” PR offensive to give Republicans ‘hip-hop’ appeal, is finally stepping down as the RNC Chairman. This means, VH and I can start writing donation checks to the RNC again.

In Steele’s announcement — which was met with a standing ovation from the rest of the committee — he noted “It’s very clear the party wants to do something a little different and maybe a little better.”

All I have to say is: word.

  1. I think I have found my long lost twin. And you are a blogger. Rock on Sister! I have blogged this and throw you a link.

  2. Thanks, Katy! I remember groaning when Steele became chair. It was such a buffonish, reactionary move by the RNC that made the party’s other efforts to broaden appeal seem equally ridiculous. Of course, his antics since then have only served to reinforce the pitfalls of screening based on skin color, and not on experience, a track record of good judgment and ability to perform the duties expected.
