Kim just sent an email telling me that Romney’s dropping out of the Presidential race. Sure enough: that’s what the NY Times says, too.
Of all the lame-brained ideas! What’s the point of having a runoff to the party convention if strong candidates drop out within days of Super Tuesday. Has that day subsumed the party convention now?
Granted, I’ve lost quite a bit of interest in politics over the past couple of years. So much so, in fact, that I’ve spent the past couple of months mostly just skimming the headlines and occasional blog entries discussing various candidates’ positions. I figured I’d wait until the race heated up a bit before I really started examining them more in-depth.
You know… like maybe after the primaries?
The real pisser? I’d started thinking recently that I liked Romney better than all of them. Because I am not going to vote for John McCain. I learned enough about him during the last election to know I’d rather vote Democrat than help that man get into the White House.

I remember the good old days when conventions were really nominating conventions, and you didn’t know till it was over who was going to be the front-runner. Nowadays the convention is no more than a victory party.
One blogger that instapundit links to has what might be a good bumper sticker:
McCain for President. Or we’re really screwed.
Wake me when it’s over (in November).

I know, the more McCain talks, the better Obama sounds. No WAY I’ll vote for Clinton, but if Obama takes the Dem nomination, I’ll be looking hard at him. Yeah, he’s a liberal. But the fact that the FAR right hates McCain is one of his selling points for me.

Do you think Romney and McCain had a talk and Romney said, “Hey, I’ll back out if you make me VP?”
If Romney gets tabbed for that post, I’ll know IMMEDIATELY that’s why he dropped out.

Kate – I hardly know ya – but I think I like you WAY too much!
Found you on Blogging Zoom.
I was listening to the latest Ann Coulter book on MP3 audio today and wondering why there weren’t more vitriolic femmes` in the world – or where to find them.
I’ll be back…

You were a lot nicer about the news than I was when I heard it today. That makes three, count ‘em THREE candidates I was behind now that have dropped out. And hell will freeze over, melt, and re-freeze before I cast a ballot for McCain or Hillary. Not really fond of Obama either. Martinis on me that day, VK.

I wonder what Romney would think if he realized he was driving non-Mormons like us to drink?
