Send Teabags to Congress
Michele and Beth Donovan have cooked up a rather ingenious plan: sending teabags to the douche bags in Congress who voted for what Michelle calls the “No Banker Left Behind” bill.
You know, the one that also includes payments to loggers hurt by federal timber restrictions, tax credits for employers of people who ride bikes to work, and an incongruously folded-in mental health parity bill which is quite likely to lead to insurance rate hikes.
The very one which just passed in the Senate 74-25 (proving that not a damn person in Congress actually read Thomas Malthus in college). Now it heads to the House, which is expected to vote on the bill Friday.
Hence the teabags because, as Michele puts it: “The people spoke. The House responded. The Senate ignored the people. What are the chances the House will stand up for us again?” (Answer: slim to none. They don’t call it a “whore House” for nothing.)
Hello Kate!!
Do love your blog and you have my thoughts and prayers over your recent loss. Your sharing of your thoughts the other day reflect much of what I have been contemplating.
Where do I begin? This bailout is starting to look like a big “Porkapalooza”. . . .hello?!! Anybody home? Nope they are out partying-whoohoo!! Fooled us suckers again, didn’t they?
The fact that the majority media decline to state the facts and tell the truth about this massive fraud perpetuated in the name of subprime mortgages has me shaking my head. I do believe this all has been well thought out and is a concerted effort to get “their guy” elected. As Mark Twain wrote-(and I do quote him losely), “the biggest tragedy in life is in getting what you want.” Don’t think a lot of folks really know what they are getting. Not to worry. . we may have 4 “glorious” years to find out. (Or is it 6 years?)
I will be watching the debates and have said a prayer for Sarah and a prayer for this country. That is all I can do at this time.
God guide us and protect us.
Lady Di
Thanks for the kind words, Lady Di.
The last thing I want from my government is for them to try to “fix” problems best handled by the marketplace and a serious change in individuals’ behavior. As Ronald Reagan once pointed out, the most dangerous words ever uttered: “I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”
So, yes, I agree it’s turning into Porkapalooza… which is ironic since it was pork barrel politics also contributed to the very situation Congress is now hoping to fix.
Oh great. And now I can’t stop thinking about bacon.
Kate,
Bacon, bacon!! A nice BLT is in order!! I live in the Sarasota, FL area and I tell you, Arby’s does have some awesome BLTs, for a very decent price. (Gosh, I guess they are supposed to be “healthy” now so that I can work longer and give my earnings to the great socialistic state!!)
Just joking!—not really.
I am such an optimist-God help me!! But I am like the little kid who found a pile of horse-shit in the back yard and knows there is a pony underneath it all. Sometimes lessons are learned by reading and studying what happened to others. I do believe that in this lovely time of “me, me, and it’s all about me”, lessons are gonna be much tougher. Yep. Sorry to say this but perhaps we need to take a hard look at ourselves and our spending. (Oh please I am not about to wear a “hair-shirt” but frankly, I do have some issues about the crap that is daily blared to us and our spoiled progency.)
Yeah, sure you can have a crappy minimum wage job and afford a Coach purse;gee didn’t you see the movie, “Sex, And The City”? (I know I got away with this until my “Chinese knock-off” connection got busted!) I guess what I am trying to say in my “bitter, clutching knock-off purse way” is that “Jeez Gang, Grow Up!!”

If the pork wasn’t enough, they went and stuff in that parity bill which, btw, is pretty freaking important but should NOT have been put in a package with this. The only justification I can think they had for that one (other than sheer greed) is that they KNOW people are going to need easier access to services with all the crap they’re pulling.
Jaes last blog post..Still alive
haha Jae! I wish I didn’t have to agree with you on the parity thing.

Isn’t this what always happens whenever they want a bill passed? Add on as much as they can and think they are fooling the people who put them there! I hope Lipton runs out of tea bags! (all of them will be in DC!)
Micheles last blog post..The Sarah-Cuda
I’m wondering now how many of them are smart enough and educated enough to “get it”?
Will I be investigated if I send a sample tin of tar and a feather?

Well, that’s probably better than a clip of hollow points or a noose.
