Smoke and Mirrors
Once - just once - I’d like to see hard-core MSM coverage of Katherine Harris and her political positions without the accompanying sideshow of media manipulation.
The latest, of course, is Harris’s claim that the MSM has doctored her photos to make her makeup look clownish, all as a way of “poking fun” at her. (If it seems like you’ve heard this before, it’s because you have.)
The media, of course, deny such tactics.
“Manipulating an image in any form is not allowed” by The Associated Press, which distributes photos to newspapers nationwide, said David Ake, AP national deputy photography director. “We’re pretty adamant about that. We have terminated people for it.” (Source: Tampa Tribune)
Frankly, I have no opinion whatsoever on Katherine Harris. I need information to form an opinion: concise, solid facts and when it comes to Harris I haven’t heard too many of those. The media is simply too busy rehashing the 2000 Election to bother with such, well, news.
But I will say this: it seems rather unreasonable for Harris to claim that the media is doctoring her pictures, given how much* work went into the cover photo of her book.
*5th row down on right.
