I’m all in favor of legalizing it, provided we don’t equate making something legal with making something moral.

As far as where the funds should go? I’d be in favor of spending tax proceeds from prostitution on free health care clinics in high-risk neighborhoods, job training- and Head Start programs.

Then again, I’m increasingly feeling like less of a Republican these days.

We justify state lotteries by earmarking money for education. We tax gas and use it for alternative fuels. I'm not sure if liquor or tobacco taxes are earmarked. Overall, I think some of these "bad" things (smoking, gambling, drinking, strip clubs, etc) need to be legal to keep the money out of the mob but then, we start justifying them by earmarking them for "social causes". It's weird and I like it. I'd like to see marijuana heavily taxed to help the elderly and to stop funding criminals. Any thoughts on whether the state should make prostition legal and taxable and where the funds should go?
