Once again, our cable box kept rebooting throughout John McCain’s acceptance speech last night. I’d been willing to dismiss it as a rain-related problem during Palin’s speech, but two nights of interrupted viewing certainly has me wondering. Fortunately, we were able to watch everything live via the internet. And what a night it was, too!
Is it my imagination, or is this year’s convention the wittiest ever? Huckabee’s fantastic speech Wednesday night and Giuliani’s ripostes had us in stitches. (That “Sorry, Bah-rack” line was priceless.) Palin, of course, charmed me first with her personal candor and then with her ability to deliver lines that even I, the Venomous One, wish I’d written.
Even John McCain was more pithy and droll than he’s been, and considering that he’s known for his sense of humor, that’s saying a lot.
One of my favorites:
“I’m not running for president because I think I’m blessed with such personal greatness that history has anointed me to save our country in its hour of need.”
