You’d think that would make an ideal match, but since having kids we’ve found ourselves both struggling with the fact that only one of us can be spending solo time. The other one’s got to be on parenting duty.

We solved it a couple of months ago by coming up with a schedule, as weird as that sounds.

I don’t let our pets out unattended, either. Two of the cats are not allowed outside, period. One is, but only because she seemingly can’t stand everyone else in the house and needs to be alone every once and a while, and because she can handle herself pretty well. The dogs can go out back alone, of course, but are on a leash at all times for their own safety anywhere else. They’re little, and goofy enough to run out onto busy streets.
