Where Did The Weekend Go?
On Saturday morning I decided to make a quick run through Wal-Mart to pick up some odds and ends. Whoever laid out that store has it in for me: the bargain-bin of computer games is right there in the main aisle where I can’t help passing it at least three times each trip. They might as well just put a big sign that reads “Nerd Crack”, because I always come away with three or four $5 games that I was too cheap to buy when first released.
This time I picked up the original Zoo Tycoon. That was sometime around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, the day I somehow managed to completely lose track of thanks to a sudden obsession with building the biggest, best zoo EVER. Having failed to accomplish that, I wound up spending Sunday attempting much the same thing.
Problem is, I really did have a lot of things on my “To Do” list that I was supposed to accomplish over the weekend. Every time I thought about shutting down the computer and tackling those tasks, though, some giraffe or baboon got sick and, well, I can’t just leave a poor animal suffering, can I?
In other words, I didn’t accomplish one single productive thing over the weekend. I’m not sure I feel entirely ashamed of that fact, either. While not as relaxing as, say, one of those Orlando vacations, it was still quite a bit more rejuvenating than scrubbing the refrigerator shelves and re-caulking the bathtub.
Now I just have to exercise some self-discipline (not one of my strong traits) and stay away from the thing until next weekend.
Like that’s going to happen.

Try Sims 2 and the expansions.
Oh, good one. I had Sims 2 for a while then let my daughter take it to her Dad’s for a weekend. Haven’t seen it since!
I did learn not to bother trying to play it on my cell phone. What a waste of time — and money! — that was.
I got that one for my daughter when she was a little too young for it. She loves animals and was mainly concerned with keeping them happy. When the people were very dissatisfied with her zoo and nothing she did seemed to make them happy, she solved the problem by letting all the lions loose.
Anne, please don’t encourage your daughter to run for office.
OMG…nerd crack….too flippin’ funny. I’ll have to remember that term the next time my nerd hubby comes home with the latest high-tech gadget! Thanks for the grin.
That’s Geek Crack, Lynn.
