A while back, I mentioned a blog-related project of mine and asked for your ideas about an iconic representation of “venom.” Well, the project has taken on a life of its own. (Don’t get your panties in a wad: it’s not going to affect this site.) I’m now in deep discussions with my Design Guru and we plan to slowly begin the creation process this weekend.

In other words, my ultimate quest for world domination is starting to take shape. In my experience with similar quests (a village here, a town or two, a handful of insignificant small countries), I’ve found it’s much more enjoyable to convert rather than subvert. So I thought I’d ask you, The Envenomed, for some assistance.

Unlike certain people, I am not going to create a fictional journalism student asking survey questions for school just to give me a “cover story” to elicit your feedback without admitting that I’m interested in providing you with a page to enjoy. I have no problem admitting that I don’t blog for the bloggers and I’m not the type to make pseudo-intellectual claims that I blog only for my own entertainment. Nope, I blog for the adoration and, ultimately, world domination.

Oh yeah, back to that… The project I’m planning is rather ambitious, in that it is a drastically different blog style. One might even think of it as the “anti-blog.” But before the Design Guru and I spend countless hours trying to get this thing off the ground, I want your input.

Let’s just go ahead and assume that you think my blog is perfect. That way you don’t have to waste time kissing my (damn near perfect) ass, and I don’t have to grumble about how for once I wanted information, dammit, not validation.

Please feel free to answer the following questions in the comment section, or send me an confidential email if you don’t want other folks to know what you really think. What I’m interested in learning from you is:

• How many blogs do you read per day? Per week?
• How often do you actually follow links within the posts?
• How often do you click on the name of a blog listed in the blogroll or list on the side of the blog page?
• What makes a blog one that keeps you coming back? Is it the design? The topics? The blogger? What?
• What – besides stupidity – makes you decide you don’t like a blog?
• What other online information sources do you use on a regular basis, beside blogs?
• What other sources of online entertainment do you use on a regular basis, beside blogs? (e.g., music sites, video sites, game sites, but not porn sites)
• Do you chat online with others?
• What is your current home page? What do you like about it?

For non-bloggers:
• Have you ever submitted a link to a blog?
• If you have submitted links to a blog, what inspired you to do it?

Finally – for bloggers and non-bloggers alike:
• How do you think blogs are going to change over the next few years now that they’re starting to get more attention from the mainstream media?
• Are these “good” changes in your opinion? Why or why not?
