Al-Qaeda Linked To Mosque Bombing

In case anyone was in doubt, al-Qaeda has been tied to last week’s mosque explosion.

An al-Qaida suspect arrested over an Iraq mosque bombing was carrying the message: “The pig has been killed”.

The explosion killed a leading Shiite cleric Ayatolla Mohammed Baqir al-Hakin and 120 others.

Eight people with ties to Osama bin Laden’s network are being questioned over the atrocity at Imam Ali Mosque in Najaf.

A senior Najaf police official said the suspects include two Saudis, a Palestinian carrying a Jordanian passport and six Iraqis.

The information has been obtained through interrogation of the suspects, who’ve also revealed that their group planned further attacks on the Iraqi infrastructure.

UPDATE: Meanwhile, the Iraqi governing council blames U.S. troops for the mosque bombing.
